What Customers Say About Cyber Acoustics Mic-48 Desktop Uni-Directional Microphone:

This mic is a very good mic for what I use it for. The price was excellant, and the seller got it to me very fast. I bought it from Amazon.com, and their service was as usual, Outstanding.

I got this mic because I needed a better mic for Yahoo phone in/out (internet phone calls,) and I was using a homemade mic consisting of a broken headphones where I was talking out of the left side of the phones which worked, but I was receiving many complaints that I sounded like I were talking through a pillow. When I had this setting ticked I did receive feedback from the speakers like you might with a PA system when the mic was placed close to my speakers, so this week I have that box unticked, but that setting might be useful if you were recording from across the room to get extra boom out of it. I don't have a basis for comparison against a more expensive mic to tell you if there is a significant difference in sound quality but let me ask you this.If someone were selling the same mic for $100 would you automatically assume it's higher quality and opt for the more expensive mic due to the fact that you equate more money paid with a higher quality product. I also used the mic a couple of times in conjunction with my new $10 web cam and XP movie maker and upon playback of the video, I discovered that the voice portion of the video sounds just fine with no distortion. Sometimes a name brand company or mail order catalogue will slap their name on the cheapest of cheap products then go ahead and mark it up for many times what it is actually worth, but for placing internet phone calls and making the occasional instructional video to post to the internet I am happy with the product and happy with the price. The mic seems to have decent pick up from over a foot away and I liked the swivel-base that allows you to move the mic around to the desired position or remove the mic and use it as a Bob Barker style karaoke mic for handheld use. I got the mic and people told me I definitely sounded better than with the makeshift headphone mic I was using before. I am using this with a 10-foot 3.5mm extension cord that plugs into my audio card's mic or line out jack, that I also use for my headphones late at night so it is difficult to determine if there is any signal loss due to the length of the cord.

I would recommend tinkering in your control panel's sound and voice recording settings to optimize the mic level. With my audio hardware I have an advanced setting that allows you to tick a box for a +20db voice boost. My experience with these things has shown that paying more does not always equal a better product. I purchased the 6 LED web cam/mic combo for under $20 (shipping included,) and I went from having plain text on my social networking page to my own uploaded videos of myself.

Although I ordered the white CyberAcoustics Desktop Mic-48 shown in the photo, the Dynex DX-54 (with a CyberAcoustics logo) was sent to me. Amazon needs to update the photo. The mic performs well and sounded more pleasant than a slightly more expensive USB desktop boom mic. I recommend this mic for general use, and feel Amazon's pricing is reasonable.

I understand it is typically used for online chat and what have you but my comp doesn't even recognize it or hear anything when I speak to it. I just bought a Spanish Program to enhance my Spanish skills, so I needed a microphone to help me out with the program.Microphone is light, weak and doesn't do too much for me. I would prefer a more heavy duty mic for anything.Secondly, it doesn't work at all. Obviously I'm not too upset because I paid a measily[.].bucks for it, but stay away from this mic anyway. It's not woth the [.].bucks.Overall quality is very poor as well.

Just set it on the desk and talk. Very compatable and combined with webcam talkign with friends and doing production is a breeze.
